Brian Gibson, Principal

Hello and Welcome to the Kyrene Traditional Academy!

As an Arizona native who grew up in the East Valley, I am proud to have dedicated the past 31 years to the Kyrene School District. My journey in education began as a fourth- and fifth-grade teacher at Kyrene de los Cerritos and C.I Waggoner.  I later served as assistant principal and principal at Kyrene de las Lomas for ten 10 years, followed by seven wonderful years as principal of Kyrene de la Sierra. It is now an incredible honor to serve as principal of Kyrene Traditional Academy during this special Legacy Year.

I believe education is about creating a welcoming environment where every student is respected, valued, and inspired to reach their full potential. At KTA, we are committed to fostering a positive and inclusive learning community where students are challenged academically while also supported socially and emotionally.

Kyrene Traditional Academy has a long-standing tradition of excellence. As an Arizona A+ School of Excellence and one of only two schools in the Kyrene School District to receive the National Blue-Ribbon Award, KTA is recognized for its commitment to high academic standards and student achievement. KTA is a K–8 traditional model school that provides a rigorous academic experience while maintaining a strong sense of community. Our specialized approach to teaching and learning emphasizes structure, character, responsibility, and individualized attention for every student.

At KTA, we take great pride in preparing students not only for academic success, but also for becoming self-disciplined, compassionate, and conscientious members of society.
